Native Botanical Garden Projects Under Development
Sharavati Valley Native Botanical Garden,
Karnataka
Located in the Sharavati Valley within the Western Ghats, this project aims to preserve and display Karnataka’s native plant species in one of the most biodiverse regions in the world. The botanical garden will focus on cultivating a wide variety of indigenous flora, from medicinal plants to rare species unique to this ecoregion. Through conservation, education, and community engagement programs, the garden will promote awareness of native ecosystems, support pollinators, and work closely with local communities to restore natural habitats. Funding will go toward infrastructure, plant collection, research facilities, and creating educational programs for visitors.
Singalila Native Botanical Garden,
Darjeeling, West Bengal
Nestled near Singalila National Park, this botanical garden project in Darjeeling district is dedicated to showcasing native Himalayan flora. This high-altitude location, known for its diverse and fragile ecosystems, is ideal for conserving native plant species that thrive in colder climates. The garden will feature Himalayan medicinal plants, flowering shrubs, and endemic species, fostering education and research on biodiversity conservation. Funds will support habitat restoration, visitor facilities, and collaboration with local stakeholders to preserve the region’s natural heritage and empower surrounding communities with sustainable practices.
